Van Heusen underwear ad banned: Too racy for Brisbane buses

September 25, 2008 – 6:25 pm

Details are sketchy, but this advertisement for fashion label Van Heusen will not be allowed to run on the rear of Brisbane City Council buses. It’s been deemed too racy.

This is too hot for Brisbane buses? Give me a break.

Too hot for Brisbane buses? Give me a break.

Even us precious Brisbane folk can tolerate some clothed ass. Anyone in the CBD passes giant posters of scantily clad women daily when we walk past the local Bras N Things stores.

Brisbane City Council have been quick to point out they aren’t prudes, it’s the company that handles their advertising, BusPak, that’s banned the ad (possibly because it displays too much skin).

It’s okay elsewhere though. Commuters in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth will see the ad on their buses (and trams) from Sunday.

Where else but Queensland…

  2. This article is at the very top of my google search results for “van heusen underwear”…

I just looked at the prices on the Van Heusen site but it’s Target and Woolies for me I’m afraid.

  3. It’s doing well in search rankings that’s for sure. This post beat News Ltd for most keywords.

Designer underwear… but no one sees it! Not much at least.

  4. uh huh… I changed it to a google image search with safe search off… (!). It’s hard to pick the images that are the sexiest so I decided to delete “Van Heusen” from the image search leaving only a “safe search off” image search for “underwear”

WOW ! Senator Conroy will have his hands full on this one …

Just look at this (found via a google image search – safe search off mind you )

    Celebrities Nude News !

Paris Hilton and Britney Spears I’m afraid.

.. and then there’s (YouTube type videos for instant play)

WARNING – ADULT CONTENT POSSIBLY NOT SUITABLE FOR MINORS … and even possibly of the type known in Austrlia as “X”..

My machine insists that it wants to download them to my hard drive. No wonder the local porn industry is going down the gurgler. It depends to a great extent on Paris Hilton and other celebrities. One adult “book” store in St. Marys has seemingly closed it’s doors for good and another in Penrith looks a bit wobbly in terms of customers. The one’s in the High Street appear to be doing well though.

I guess it’s the survival of the fittest. I have to wash now and attend an hour’s seminar on working capital (finance and that sort of stuff)….

  5. I don’t think it’s the clothed ass that got it banned. The suggestive pose of the ass-bearer’s blurry ladyfriend implies that the Van Heusens are about to come off, or maybe they just went on again. Those responsible for the ban probably found their own pulse rates going up a notch, weren’t sure why, and slammed down the “verboten’ stamp.
