Censorship on the behalf of children should be the parent's responsibility alone. Studies conducted by Sylvan Learning Center show that children who are exposed to information in the form of viewing it on a screen are unable to put the learning into practice and retain little information, while children who view information on a screen and talk about it/ interact with another person are able to put the learning into practice and remember it. The internet is therefore not a teacher. Also, different people have different ideas of what should be censored. I was saddened to see a TV star's cross hanging around his neck blurred by a privacy blur, on a TV channel that allows exposed breasts and swastika tattoos. Only the parents who censor their children's internet themselves know that the parent's beliefs and values are being protected, not mocked and privacy-blurred. Also, children who see cruelty and violence on the internet and TV learn cruelty and violence, and censorship typically does nothing to monitor or prevent this, focusing instead on key words and stifling religious and political beliefs, and personal expressions, that some find beautiful and others find offensive. The only way for parents to use the internet to help their children learn the religion, politics, personal beliefs and forms of self-expression that are within the parent's values, without exposing them to violence and cruelty, is for the parents to pre-view all TV and internet content themselves that their kids will watch. Censorship is valuable only to deceivers who have something to hide, and freedom only exists in countries with free speech. If you think that denizens of countries without free speech are happy because they say so publicly, ask yourself why those are the countries that immigrants are fleeing from.

Stephen Conroy is an absolute ret@rd. Clearly, he is a fanatical ideologist with no understanding of a democratic and free market - Instead, he obviously supports socialist views and would probably fit in quite comfortably in the former U.S.S.R. regime. It is m0r0ns like this who impose the strictest legislation on society which always inevitably leads to weakening economic conditions, wealth depreciation, and general unhappiness of the people living in such an over regulated environment. Wake up Conroy!
