I'd embed that widget if it wasn't 300 pixels wide: doesn't fit on a standard blogspot sidebar.

GetUp needs to produce a 200 or 250 pixel wide version. (If you edit the html to make it smaller it just cuts the sides off and looks broken.)

For the widget to work in LiveJournal (for LiveJournal users - who have been forgotten by GetUp ) it's necessary to use the code intended for WordPad and post it between LJ embed tags - available as an "on the web" post rather than through one of the free clients such as Semagic.

There are quite a few LiveJournal users in Australia (apart from myself) who adopt a cynicla view of Senator Conroy's plan.

I suggest that GetUp think of LiveJournal users and perhaps add LiveJournal to their list of social networking sites.

The code for LiveJournal is the same as for Wordpress but with lj-embed tags. I suggest it be entered via on-line entry screen which adds the "embedded media" tags.

This code is an example. LiveJournal amends code after posting with a number. Don't ask me why or how but that's what it does.

It is easy to see why many elements in the US were certain Obama was the Anti-Christ. What a scandalous suggestion, that parents might actually attempt to parent their children.

At this rate we could buy ourselves an Obama :-)

Barak Obama's technology policy, BTW, seems rather good to me. It's here:
http://www.docstoc.com/docs/201649/Barack-Obamas-technology-policy

Here's a short extract:

<em><b>Protect Our Children While Preserving the First Amendment</b>: We live in the most information-abundant age in history and the people who develop the skills to utilize its benefits are the people who will succeed in the 21st century. Obama values our First Amendment freedoms and our right to artistic expression and does not view regulation as the answer to these concerns. An Obama administration will give parents the tools and information they need to control what their children see on television and the Internet in ways fully consistent with the First Amendment. To further protect children online, Obama and Biden support tough penalties, increased enforcement resources and forensic tools for law enforcement, and collaboration between law enforcement and the private sector to identify and prosecute people who abuse the Internet to try to exploit</em>

I'd be interested in other people's comments.
