Censordyne: GetUp’s anti net censorship TV ad
July 4, 2009 – 9:03 pmUpdate 11:20PM: Ilic has made the video private and unfortunately can no longer be viewed. Way to put an end to any sort of viral campaign taking off. The ad will now launch Tuesday and it’s anticipated that GetUp! will request further donations. That’s unlikely to go over well with those who donated to their first ad campaign, many of which are angry about the campaigns lack of exposure.
Dan Ilic’s anti net censorship ad for GetUp!:
Ilic’s YouTube page states ‘Please go to http://www.getup.org.au to donate a small amount to help get this video up on TV’, but I think that’s a pretty big ask when you consider the amount of money already given to the group’s Save The Net campaign.

What’s the definition of Irony again?

Why on earth have they made it private? Surely any views are good, especially free ones. I’m not surprised they’re struggling for donations…

In response to a query with a hashtag #nocleanfeed http://twitter.com/danilic replied
“@irldexter hey mate.. you may have to wait till tuesday… folow me and I’ll give you the link then
4:00 PM Jul 4th from TweetDeck in reply to irldexter”
It’s now Tuesday so I guess it’s just a question of asking for the link.

At least one person is asking what happened to the Censordyne video (whatever it might be)
Here’s a google cache as at the 4th. July 2009
http://74.125.95.132/search?q=cache:4DZxLiZgh7YJ:www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DYchJlHoFCfw
65 people had viewed it and it had been rated 4 and a half stars by seven people
If it is to go to air as a commercial then I have no idea on which station it might be broadcast nor when it might be broadcast…
Tomorrow is Wednesday. I guess it doesn’t really matter. Perhaps it’s a legal issue.

A bit off topic but, where’s all this at now?
How are the trials going, what do the ISPs think about it now? If we do get this system, will it be before or after the next election?
Just wondering coz there seems to be a dearth of up-to-date info.

Hmmm, the ad is now screening on the GetUp site.
And for your convenience there is a donation form on the same page. https://www.getup.org.au/campaign/SaveTheNet&id=684
Just a tip GetUp, it is not a TV ad unless you put it on the fucking TV!

The embedded YouTube video can now be played.

Confirmed Bob.
It would be much better on TV and I understand why people feel that GetUp! is more interested in our money than our concerns.
In the meantime, we need spread this around.

I recommend watching the video on STotC, just in case you have trouble controlling the playback while you are watching the thing on GetUp!
