Perhaps there was some pressure from Heavy Kevvy. Remember his comment in the “what I learned” segment at the end of the show? I recall there was something about the host looking into alternative careers (or something like that, the show wasn’t that memorable).

That said, the TomKat explanation is also plausible, especially taking into account the commercial implications.

It’s insulting to the audience, and pathetic.

I propose a campaign not to watch the episode with Katie Holmes (if she’s ever on). I’m not going all out and extreme “Never watch Rove again”. If you like his “comedy”, watch him again in the future. However, if you normally tune in, just skip that week. Encourage your viewing friends to do the same.

If enough people buy in, that sends a powerful message: panhandle to celebrities and your ratings will suffer. People don’t respect it.

Campaign: Don’t watch Holmes on Rove.

So it’s OK to broadcast a joke about someone cumming on Bruno’s face, but mentioning Katie Holmes is what they censor?

I have heard that Tom Cruise is litigious about that subject but still: wonder why the censors considered it a different matter for SBC to make the same claim explicitly about Arnie several times during that sketch as well.

I guessed ‘Therese Rein’, which would be in line with typical SBC tastelessness (making us think of the PM & Therese going at it – but now I’ve done it, so nyah!)

Maybe Tom or Katie are lined up for the show in the near future.

Instead of hiding the gag/comment, it’s actually ensured that we’re all talking about it, asking what name was mentioned and why it was cut out. If they were really afraid of being sued, they would have cut the piece altogether.

I find the censorship to be FAR more offensive than anything that IS censored.
